After nine months of on-again-off-again work my system is up and running. The RCA1040 hums along as does my Super Simplex.

A film tech type friend came over and adjusted and tweaked away for five hours yesterday.
One problem left. I came across a used power supply for the exciter lamp. It is from a "Pas" system, according to my friend. There are three leads marked Ground, Plus and Minus. And there are two leads coming from the interior of the unit. These come together in one plug with eight pins (I think). How do I hook this thing up correctly? Do I take the plug off and assign the wires to an AC cord , etc.? My friend says he has one we can get our hands on in a few weeks that is easier to hook up. Should I wait, or is this a good unit?
I paid 50 bucks for it, so I hate to see money go down the drain.

Can you post a picture or a drawing of the unit in question?
