Well, many of you guys will be seeing my girlfriend up on the big screen soon.

A certain company that does phone and on-line movie tickets and information made a ad/trailer to be released soon. I don't want to say the name, (to keep Film-Tech an "spam-free" zone) but it is a take-off of "The Shinning." It was shown at Show-West, and now it's being sent out on video tape and 35mm.

My girlfriend said that the ad was edited from it's original version. Originally, there was a kitchen knife, (like in "The Shinning") but recent events with kids and violence in the news caused them to tone it down.

Now, don't go drawing any mustaches on her when you get the paper handouts or anything, or I will be forced to defend her honor. And since I can't fight for squat, you will probably win and beat me up!

I don't think mentioning the name of the company who your girlfriend is starring in a commercial for is anything too bad. So what company is it? Moviephone?

And if we can't alter the images, can we burn cds and change the soundtrack via cd player and non-sync input?

How many people that would use Moviefone would even have seen The Shining? Odd choice. I would have thought something a little bit more contemporary. After all, The Shining is 20 years old.

If I ever get to see it, all my questions may be clearly answered, however.

We've got a moviefone here too, but it's pretty lame and their ads are not much better. Hey, maybe they'll use your ad and your girlfriend will get paid piles more money for an international sale!

Just remember folks, when she's rich and famous, you heard it here first.

Yes, it is Moviephone.com. I think "The Shinning" is a popular film to make fun of, which is why they chose it.

Brad, keep those hands off of the non-sync input!

She won't be getting any more money from them (regardless if it is used internationally) because there's very little in the SAG rules defining "ad based trailers." So it's a flat one-time pay-off. The SAG is trying to get those rules changed, because it's a big thing now. Same thing with cable TV use.
