This week UA pulled all Hollywood.com trailers, 1-sheets, etc. from their theaters. Apparently AMC and Hollywood.com have formed a dynamic duo to challenge moviephone. Moviephone should be pretty tough to beat. Anyone hear more?

It's called movietickets.com and allows people to buy tickets online. So far, no word on when and how the program will be implimented, but we can assume all AMC theatres will run it. The official press release is at http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/000302/ma_nationa_1.html

Thanks Andy,
It will be interesting to see if on-line emphasis of movie ticket sales challenges the success of Moviephone. Does anyone know how moviephone has done on-line compared to their phone orders.

Interresting side note: Cinemark is starting their own on-line ticket purchasing program as well. They have been Beta testing this program at select theatres, and is supposedly getting good responses.

The following is a link to cnet news which posted on Thursday March 9th that Six Theatre Chains, Loews Cineplex Entertainment, Regal Cinemas, Cinemark Theaters, General Cinema Theaters, Edwards Theaters and Century Theaters with additional funding from venture firms General Atlantic Partners and Accretive Technology Partners have invested 30 million dollars into an online ticketing company. http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1007-200-1566497.html?tag=st.ne.1002.

This follows last months moves by AMC, National Amusements, and Hollywood.com to form movietickets.com

Also notable that Loews Cinaplex Entertainment invested in EncrypTix, a stamps.com venture
