OK, I finally got around to using the parts from three nonfunctional Super Simplex heads to build a single, mostly functional one. I still have one problem that keeps me scratching my head...

I have the shutter timing set correctly, which I can verify by inching the projector by hand. But when I run the projector with the motor at sync speed, the shutter seems to go in and out of time; at regular intervals of about a second, the picture will alternate between being crystal clear and being overly "streaky". The shutter is definitely not loose on the shaft.

So...how is this possible? What's the fix? Do I need to replace the intermittent? I have a spare, but I'd rather not go to the trouble if there's another, obvious fix.

Thanks!

Sounds like the G87 is loose on its shaft or there is a striped spot on one of the shutter gears
It probably isn't the intermitent
