I just did this with mine. The level indicators on the front panel will not glitch as much. There are a few other little bug fixes, but nothing you will notice without EX (and version 1.61ex). Along the way some features were added like auto digital which may or may not appeal to you (I don't remember if noise gating was available in 1.31 either but only really applies to THX houses). I don't thing there is any harm in doing the upgrade on this one and 1.61 seems to be pretty stable thus far. Or maybe I had 1.36 if there was such a thing.
