  • Kinoton ST-200 and ST-200E Differences and Upgrade

I'm wondering what the differences between a Kinoton ST-200 platter and the ST-200E model are? From reading a bit online it seems like the E has an infrared brain, and maybe some other electronic payout system too, but I'm not quite sure on that?

And then, is it possible to upgrade a ST-200 to the E by swapping the brain? I saw this mentioned in an old (2011) forum post but I'm not sure if a more comprehensive overhaul is needed?

    Hi David

ST200 is pure 220v based, with timers and vario-transformers.ST200-E is purely electronic controlled.and yes the ST200E used a opto based brain.BUT you could also get these for the 220v version.
you only needed to put in two resistors in the controlbox, when using this.and it could still be used for the mechanical ones.but you could only have one electronicbrain in the platter system at the time. with the mechanical ones, you could have two,so you didnĀ“t have to move the brain.
